Spotify will soon allow users to fully disable video content within its app. This new feature will roll out globally later this month and will be available to all Spotify accounts, including those on the free tier.
Users will find the new video controls in the app's Settings menu under Content and display. Here, they can switch off Canvas looping visuals and videos for both music and podcasts. Once selected, these preferences will apply across all devices, including mobile, desktop, web, and TV platforms.
Spotify's move comes after feedback from users who wanted more control over their listening experience. The company states that the update aims to provide more choices for users. However, free plan users will still see video ads and Canvas-like visuals on some audio ads, even with video content turned off.
This update addresses concerns from users who found the increasing presence of video content unnecessary. By offering a straightforward way to disable videos, Spotify aims to improve the listening experience for those who prefer audio-only content.
Once the update is available, users can adjust their settings, and Spotify will remember these preferences across all devices. This ensures a consistent experience whether users access Spotify on their phone, computer, or TV.
Spotify continues to update its platform based on user feedback. The new video controls reflect the company's ongoing efforts to balance new features with user preferences.
