Motorola

With the new Razr 50 Ultra, Motorola has once more revised its venerable Razr series providing a familiar but noticeably improved experience. Costing Rs. 99,999 in India, this gadget seeks to improve the foldable phone market significantly above its predecessor. Let's get into the specifics to grasp why the Razr 50 Ultra distinguishes itself.

Design: Sleek and Practical

Though with some subtle improvements, the Razr 50 Ultra keeps the traditional clamshell form. Folded, the phone is now a few millimeters thinner, thinner than most smartwatches. A new, more compact hinge design that promises higher dependability with less moving components is mostly responsible for this thickness drop.

With an IPX8 rating, the hinge also gives protection against dust and a more seamless opening and closing experience. It falls short of the IP48 rating of the Galaxy Z Flip 6, which provides dust and water protection, though. The vegan leather surface of the rear panel enhances the quality feel of the gadget and offers a great grip.

Display: A Visual Feast

Featuring a 4.0-inch cover display with a 1,272 x 1,080 pixel resolution and a refresh rate of 165Hz, the Razr 50 Ultra With the same 165Hz refresh rate and a full-HD+ resolution, the main display is a 6.9-inch pOLED screen. Extremely useful even under direct sunlight, the HDR10+ certified cover display delivers a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.

Front

The whole look is improved by the more polished cover display with better camera and LED flash cutouts. Especially in Natural mode, the main display presents outstanding color reproduction; its tall aspect ratio makes it perfect for viewing widescreen content.

Software: Balanced and Customizable

Running Android 14 with Motorola's Hello UI, the Razr 50 Ultra presents a harmonic software experience. Motorola has included some helpful native apps even though certain pre-installed third-party apps that might be deleted are included. Users can personalize themes, fonts, and wallpapers by means of the still flawless and flexible interface.

Motorola keeps leading in terms of cover display usefulness maximization. Its bigger size makes it more useful since it lets users accomplish chores without running the phone. Integrated into the cover display, Google's Gemini AI improves usability with capabilities including app access and full-width keyboard support.

Performance: Powerful Yet Prone to Heating

Driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 CPU, matched with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, the Razr 50 Ultra offers strong performance. Still, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 used in some rivals somewhat outclasses it. Benchmark results show that it performs rather well but not among the top of the foldable market.

Though the gadget usually heats up, especially when using the camera, daily chores and gaming operate without problems. This heating causes the camera interface to lag with prolonged use, therefore affecting performance. Notwithstanding this, gaming experiences are fun since the phone can run high-end games like Call of Duty: Mobile seamlessly.

Cameras: Improved but Imperfect

Along with a 32MP selfie camera, the Razr 50 Ultra boasts a 50MP primary camera with OIS and a 50MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. Better portrait and zoom capabilities of the telephoto lens replace the ultra-wide-angle camera of past models.

Camera

The main camera generates decent dynamic range and detail in rather saturated photos. Under good lighting, the telephoto lens performs well; but, in low light, it suffers from OIS absence. For daylight views, the built-in selfie camera is sufficient; but, it loses clarity in low light. Fortunately, the cover display lets consumers capture better selfies with the main camera.

Battery Life: Reliable and Fast-Charging

With a 4,000mAh battery, the Razr 50 Ultra boasts amazing run-through. The phone runs a whole day even with heavy usage including camera sessions and gaming. It ran continuously over twenty hours in our video loop test. Ensuring fast top-ups, the gadget supports 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.

Comparos Says

Over its predecessor, the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra offers a notable improvement by tackling past problems and including major enhancements. It distinguishes out in the foldable industry for its elegant design, great displays, balanced software, and extended battery life. Although companies like Samsung and Oppo compete fiercely, the Razr 50 Ultra is a solid candidate for anyone wishing to embrace the foldable future because of its special qualities and luxury feel.
